Union gets a Div race already

IHRA Pro Am Divisional event coming to Union!

I have huge news. IHRA will be bringing a Pro Am Divisional event to Union County Dragway on Friday and Saturday, August 20 and 21. A date came available and IHRA called me late last week to offer the race to Union first. We are honored and excited to have this type of event hitting our community. I would expect at least 250 to 300 Stock, Super Stock, Hot Rod, Super Rod, Quick Rod, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman racers. Also, a huge Junior Dragster program is included. I have run many, many of these events over the last twenty years or so, just like Mike Petrie, Michael Beard, and lots of others that are in our area. These racers come from hundreds of miles away to follow the IHRA circuit. Some of the Top Dragster and Top Sportsman racers run 4.40's and quicker. And, until you have seen a full round of Super Stock run, you have not seen drag racing. One of my main goals for Union when I came was to get an IHRA event here by 2011. Well, it came a little early. What a day this has been.

Note: We will move a few dates around for a Union points race and the Top 8 Doorslammers. The Top 8 Doorslammers will have their second event at Union on July 31 now. The Summit/Union points race number 11 will move from August 21 to September 4 with the Quick 8 Outlaws.

I thought it was a positive thing. I got no idea where they are going to park all the cars from a div race there but I hope it will motivate Union to work on their pit area. We really are very fortunate to have so many good places to race/spectate so close to us.
